Back-to-Back for Więcek

Back-to-Back for Więcek

For those of us involved with the team, there was never any doubt to his ability.

Despite a tough start to his 2017 Formula Drift season, it was always only a matter of time before US drifting fans saw what Piotr Więcek was truly capable of. Having capped off his rookie season with an outright pro victory at Irwindale last October, Piotr has continued where he left off in 2018.

Following a showstopping qualifying performance and podium finish at the first Formula Drift round of this season, he followed this success up just a week later with back-to-back victories at the Motegi Super Drift exhibition at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. The event, which was run over two days, featured two separate competitions. On Friday night, Piotr would defeat Forrest Wang in the final, while on Saturday would defeat Falken teammate Justin ‘JTP’ Pawlak for a clean sweep of victories at the event.

“What a weekend, what a time here. It’s such an amazing venue, and I really appreciate that I can be here” Piotr told the Formula Drift team. He continued, “I’m especially very happy because I managed to win both events, and especially happy because my wife and my son are here, it’s such a special occasion. For me, it’s a double happiness.”

Operating with a lightweight crew for the event, Piotr was assisted from the stands by Worthouse Team Manager Michael Sheehan, while his pit crew consisted of reigning Formula Drift champion and Worthouse teammate, James Deane.

Both Worthouse Drift Team cars will be back in action in just under two weeks at the second round of Formula Drift; ‘Scorched’ in Orlando, Florida on April 28th & 29th.
